What are no-shows actually costing you?
Service businesses without deposit protection run 15–25% no-show rates, and most owners have never multiplied that out. Three sliders, no signup: see the monthly number, and what the fix is worth.

Methodology
The Assumptions, in the Open
Loss = appointments per week × 4.33 weeks × your no-show rate × average ticket. It deliberately undercounts: it ignores prepped product, travel for mobile businesses, and the repeat visits a kept customer would have generated.
Industry presets use the rate ranges in BookrHub's 2026 no-show report — hair salons 15–20%, barbershops 20–30%, nail salons 20–25% — and similar published figures for clinics and detailing. Your own booking history beats any preset.
The recovery projection applies a 70% reduction — the conservative middle of the 60–80% that deposit systems report — with a 3.5% floor, because nothing gets no-shows to zero. The mechanics of setting deposit amounts per service are in our deposits playbook, and every fix is ranked by impact in how to reduce no-shows.
Our interest, disclosed: we build VoltsBook, booking software whose flagship feature is per-service deposits with a free plan and no commission. The calculator works the same whether you use it or not.

Calculator Questions
It's an honest estimate, not an invoice. The math is simple — appointments × no-show rate × average ticket — and the industry preset rates come from published 2026 industry data (15–25% across salons, barbers, nails and similar appointment businesses). Your real rate is better than any preset: count last month's no-shows and late cancellations and use that.
Industry reporting puts the reduction from collecting deposits at booking at 60–80%, with reminder ladders adding more on top. The calculator uses a conservative 70% reduction and never projects below a 3.5% residual rate — some no-shows survive every defense.
Usually more, not less. The slot was denied to other customers, product may have been prepped, and mobile businesses burn the travel too. The calculator counts only the ticket value, so treat its output as the floor of your real loss.
Ranked by measured impact: deposits collected at booking, an automated reminder ladder (confirmation, 24-hour, same-day), one-tap rescheduling, and a written policy applied consistently. We've published a full ranked guide with the evidence behind each.
Yes. Link to it, embed the numbers in your own planning, share it with clients — no signup, no email gate. It exists because we make booking software (VoltsBook) whose flagship feature is per-service deposits, and we'd rather show the math than assert it.
