Installation & Requirements
This guide walks you through installing Volts Connect, verifying system requirements, connecting your Twilio account, and configuring webhooks so messages can be sent and received correctly.

Installation & Requirements
Before installing Volts Connect, make sure your environment meets the following requirements.
Requirements
WordPress 5.8 or higher
PHP 7.4 or higher
HTTPS (SSL) enabled
A valid Twilio account
At least one SMS-capable Twilio phone number
⚠️ Volts Connect requires HTTPS to receive incoming webhooks from Twilio.
Plugin Installation
Download the Volts Connect plugin ZIP file.
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Upload the ZIP file and click Install Now.
Once installed, click Activate.
A new Volts Connect menu will appear in the WordPress admin sidebar.
- After activation, Volts Connect requires a valid license key to enable functionality.
You will be prompted to enter your license key before accessing any features.
Connecting Twilio
Volts Connect uses Twilio to send and receive SMS and MMS messages.
HOW TO CREATE A TWILIO ACCOUNT AND GET A NUMBER
Step 1: Get your Twilio credentials
Log in to your Twilio Console and locate:
Account SID
Auth Token
Step 2: Enter credentials in Volts Connect
In WordPress, go to Volts Connect → Settings → General Settings.
Enter your Twilio Account SID.
Enter your Twilio Auth Token.
Add your Primary Twilio Phone Number.
(Optional) Add additional Twilio numbers and assign labels.
Click Save Settings.
Step 3: Test the connection
After saving:
Click Test Connection.
A success message confirms your credentials are valid.
If the test fails, double-check your credentials and confirm your Twilio account is active.
Webhook Setup
Webhooks allow Twilio to deliver incoming SMS and MMS messages to your WordPress site.
Step 1: Copy the webhook URL
Go to Volts Connect → Settings → General Settings.
Locate the Incoming Webhook URL generated by Volts Connect.
Copy the full URL.
Step 2: Configure webhook in Twilio
Log in to your Twilio Console.
Go to Phone Numbers → Manage → Active Numbers.
Click on your SMS-enabled phone number.
Scroll to the Messaging section.
In the Webhook URL field:
Paste the webhook URL from Volts Connect.
Set the HTTP method to POST.
Save the configuration.
Step 3: Optional webhook forwarding
Volts Connect can forward raw Twilio webhook payloads to another endpoint (CRM, automation tool, or custom service).
In General Settings, find Webhook Forwarder (Optional).
Enter the destination URL.
Save settings.
Incoming messages will now:
Be processed by Volts Connect
Be forwarded to the secondary endpoint

Common Setup Issues
If messages are not sending or receiving:
Verify your site is using HTTPS
Confirm the webhook URL is saved correctly in Twilio
Ensure your Twilio number supports SMS or MMS
Check that your Twilio balance is active
